Women in STEM: Kelly Gaither’s Story

The Texas Standard caught up with a handful of women in careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math during SC15 in Austin. We wanted to know about their jobs and their advice for the next generation of female STEM leaders.

Kelly Gaither is a senior research scientist and the director of visualization at the Texas Advanced Computing Center.

Gaither says the biggest challenge for her as a woman in the predominantly-male STEM world was balancing family life with a highly-competitive technical career.

Her advice for the next generation of female STEM leaders: Never give up, don’t listen to no and don’t let anyone stand in the way of something you want.
