Five veteran El Paso educators were led away in handcuffs yesterday, the culmination of nearly six-year FBI investigation looking into whether some El Paso Independent School District officials altered student data. Charges range from conspiracy to commit mail fraud to witness retaliation.

Bob Moore, editor at the El Paso Times, says they believe the indictment came down last week, though it hasn’t been unsealed yet.

“They’re all facing charges relating to this scheme to defraud the state and federal accountability programs by rigging student performance data,” he said.
