Time for our Friday look at the week that was – joining the Standard is Ayan Mittra, managing editor of the Texas Tribune.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott won’t be attending this weekend’s Republican National Convention because he’s still recovering from skin graft surgery after experiencing severe burns while on vacation in Wyoming.

“He’s an at-large delegate to the Republican convention… he’s still a delegate, he won’t be there in person,” Mittra says, “but he’s also the head of the delegation so really the main they’re going to have to do, a GOP spokesman said, is just find out who’s going to do the roll call for the delegation on the floor.”

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– What Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said during President Obama’s town hall on race last night

– The response Patrick’s office released this morning after the town hall

– What Sen. Ted Cruz’s angle will be at the Republican National Convention, given his clash with Trump during his campaign
