State Sen. Bob Hall recently said that several hundred retired teachers in the state are over 100 years old. He went on to add that babies born today have a life expectancy of at least 110.

Are those factual statements?

Madlin Mekelburg of the Politifact Texas fact-checking team has the answer.

Hall made his claim on the Senate floor during debate on legislation to make the Texas teacher retirement system actuarially sound. Mekelburg says his argument was about how the population of beneficiaries has changed a lot since the Teacher Retirement System of Texas was first created in 1937.
