Kirstjen Nielsen, the secretary of Homeland Security, visited the Rio Grande Valley on Thursday to meet with local law enforcement officials.

She met with more than two dozen sheriffs in McAllen for about an hour. They discussed the 287 (g) program, which enables local and state law enforcement to work with immigration officials.
