Laredo Democratic Congressman Henry Cuellar said recently that the Trump administration hired a vendor to recruit Border Patrol officers using $14.8 million of taxpayer money. But the agency was only able to hire two new agents. Is that a fact? Gardner Selby of the PolitiFact Texas fact-checking team has the answer.

Cuellar made the claim during a press conference at the southern border that was streamed on Facebook Live. He expressed opposition to the president’s proposed border wall, and cited a $297 million contract to recruit border agents, $14.8 million of which had been spent, he said.

Hear how Henry Cuellar’s claim scored in the player above.
