A good night’s sleep is one of the best gifts you can give your mom for Mother’s Day – and every day of the year.

“Whether mom’s kids are little babies or teenagers, she still, they still, everyone in the household, still needs a great night’s sleep,” says Nancy Rothstein, the director of Circadian Corporate Sleep programs and a self described ‘sleep ambassador.’

Rothstein says that one of the best things you can do to get a better night’s sleep is to turn off all electronics an hour before bed. She recommends keeping technology out of the bedroom and using the hour before bed to read or relax with a warm shower or bath.

“I know it’s hard sometimes, moms, and it’s hard for the family, to get everybody settled down for sleep,” she says. “But look at this preparation time for sleep as a wonderful family time, an intimate time to be together before everybody falls asleep.”
