Ty Resendez, a 15-year-old Alice High School sophomore qualified to bowl at the Junior Gold National Championships for the third consecutive year, the only youth bowler from South Texas to qualify all three years.

“The bowling alley here in Alice would hand out blue cards and it would give you one free game a day for basically the entire summer” Resendez says. “And as time progressed I just enjoyed it thoroughly.”

Besides his older brother, who gave him lessons growing up, he’s the only bowler from Alice to ever compete at the national level.

“I hope I can get a full-ride scholarship to any college,” he says, “just to bowl because I enjoy it.”
