How Virtual Reality Could Save Lives

From the newly minted Oculus Rift to the more available and affordable headsets that work using your ordinary smartphone, we are living in the age of virtual reality. Developers and tech fiends are alight with excitement, potentially spawning a new level of entertainment. But VR can have other uses – in fact, one developer believes it could even save lives.

What do we mean? Well here to answer that is Digital Savant Omar Gallaga of 512Tech powered by the Austin American-Statesman.

“Texas Mutual, the insurance company has a new app called Safety in a Box, which is aimed at construction worker safety,” Gallaga says. “So they’re going to be distributing more than 400 of these Google Cardboard headsets to their clients and try put these on worksites where people can do virtual reality safety training.”
