Justin Williamson hails from New Braunfels and Mount Vernon, Texas – but later this year he’s moving to Lincoln, Nebraska. He says he’s going to miss the music, food and the history of our great state.

“We have a unique history. It’s part of the American identity, but at the same time it’s just our identity,” he says. “We can all share in the American revolution, but only Texans can really share in the Alamo, can share in San Jacinto, and really the nine-year period that we were our own country.”

Williamson says the internet has made it so much easier to stay connected with friends, family, and food. He says one of the foods he’ll miss is the iconic Texas Blue Bell ice cream. His favorite flavor is vanilla.

“It’s the most versatile flavor,” Williamson says. “You can add chocolate syrup to it, you can add Big Red to it, or you can just enjoy it by itself. A Blue Bell Big Red float – that’s heaven in Texas in the summertime.”
