It’s time to check in with the week that was in Texas Politics with Texas Tribune managing editor Aman Batheja.

Texas lawmakers passed 2013 legislation mandating drug testing for people asking for unemployment benefits. Perry claimed that this was going to cut down on abuse of the system.

“That federal law says that the department has to put in rules before you can start this drug testing,” Batheja says. “Four years later the Department of Labor still does not have those rules in place.”

What you’ll hear in the segment:

– The Texas Tribune’s interview with President Barack Obama.

Drug testing for unemployment benefits.

– Ted Cruz being okay with “contested convention,” but not brokered convention.
