Poll Shows Clinton’s Up in Texas, Sen. Cornyn Stays Out of Cruz’s 2018 Campaign

It’s time for the week that was in Texas politics with Emily Ramshaw, editor of the Texas Tribune.

A recent Washington Post poll of 5,000 Texans shows Hillary Clinton up by a single point. Whenever an unexpected return like this comes up it people often question the poll’s methodology but Clinton’s campaign and the state Democratic party have doubled-down efforts in Texas.

“I don’t think they’re going to win Texas but I think they see Trump candidacy as an opportunity to plant their flag and say, If Texas is looking to turn purple or blue, this is the time to do it,” Ramshaw says.
