It’s time to talk about the week that was in Texas politics. Texas Tribune reporter Patrick Svitek spoke with the Standard about what’s been going on across the state.

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry was confirmed as U.S. Energy Secretary on Thursday – and the process was not as contentious as other nominees’ hearings have been.

“I think he even got a number of Democratic senator support,” Svitek says. “This was never going to be one of those big confirmation battles especially from the vantage point of the Democrats they had focused on a few other nominees.”
