Voices can grab you. They have the power. And vocal coach Anne Schilling helps shape them.

What you hear coming out of actors’ mouths onstage in North Texas may well have been shaped by Anne Schilling. She is probably our leading voice and dialect coach, having worked with the Dallas Theater Center, Kitchen Dog, Undermain, Second Thought and Shakespeare Dallas. Schilling started as an actor but then earned her master’s degree in speech from London’s Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Before coming to teach at SMU, she worked with theaters in England, LA and New York. And if you listen to her very, very carefully, you might pick up her West Virginia accent.
