Fireworks aren’t the only thing in the skies over Fourth of July weekend. The holiday marks the busiest time for airports in an already hectic season for travel.

Andrea Ahles, a reporter for The Fort Worth Star-Telegram Sky Talk section and an airline expert, has some tips for future fliers looking to make their time at the airport less taxing.

She says the airport can be stressful for those – particularly families – who are inexperienced when it comes to flying. For this situation, Ahles offers her most fundamental piece of advice.

“The biggest tip I can give you, is just get there early,” Ahles says. “That will reduce the stress that you have through this whole process much more than any tip out there.”

What you’ll hear in this segment:

— How to reduce stress at the airport

— What you can do to better prepare for a flight

— How to make the process easier for kids
