Time for the week that was in Texas politics with Alex Samuels of the Texas Tribune.

Texas Senate Republicans passed a resolution declaring a crisis at the Texas/Mexico border and requesting that Congress fully fund “all means necessary” to secure it.

Senate Bill 15, which would bar cities from requiring employers to provide paid sick leave benefits, has made little progress. LGBTQ advocacy groups worry the bill and similar measures proposed by its author, Republican Brandon Creighton, will endanger valuable non-discrimination ordinances.

Wendy Davis announced she will not challenge John Cornyn for his U.S. Senate seat in 2020, but she is considering a bid for Congress in District 21, which includes West Austin.
