Texas property values are skyrocketing. As a result, the state’s property tax burden is now roughly tied with Illinois’s as the second-highest in the country, behind New Jersey’s. Gov. Greg Abbott named property tax relief as one of his emergency items for the 2019 legislature. Since then, a reform measure has been sailing through the Senate.
