All eyes are on Iowa just hours from caucusing in the nation’s first 2016 primary contest for president. Texas Senator Ted Cruz has been criss-crossing the hawk eye state in his final push to appeal to voters. But will his efforts pay off? The latest Bloomberg/Des Moines register poll has him 5 points behind GOP front-runner, Donald Trump.

It’s still anyone’s game. Ben Philpott, KUT’s senior editor, has been traveling with Cruz in Iowa. Other than Cruz, there’s a small contingent of notable Texans in the state – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and former Gov. Rick Perry are there as well.

Philpott says Iowa is used to the influx of out-of-staters taking over the state every three years.

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– About Cruz’s ground game and how he’s doing in the polls

– The reaction to Cruz’ “voting violation” letter

– What could happen if Marco Rubio beats expectations

– Whether Bernie Sanders might be able to pull an upset on Hillary Clintons three-point lead in the polls
