Hena Khan is a Pakistani-American children’s book author whose work was recognized by the publisher of the Curious George series. In collaboration with them, Khan wrote a Curious George story about George celebrating Ramadan with friends. She says that her experience with children’s books growing up gives her hope that her stories will make an impression on young readers.

“When I pour sugar, I still think of Laura Ingalls Wilder on the prairie and how precious sugar was when pa would go to the market and bring back a little tiny bit. Things like that stay with you, that you read as a kid,” Khan says, “As an author, since I love the genre so much and it meant so much to me as a kid, I love the idea of connecting with kids and giving them something that can stay with them.”
