Typewriter Rodeo: Break Room Etiquette

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

On those beautiful days when sweet, sugary treats appear in the break room at work, it doesn’t pay to wait around, or even to finish that last email before you walk over to get some. You snooze, you lose!

Break Room Etiquette

Oh my stomach’s rumbling

My temper’s running thin

No way I can look at

This spreadsheet again

Nope, it’s break time!

And I can see it from here

That bog box of donuts

(Still too early for a beer)

I hope there’s a maple log

Or a fritter still left

Or even a glazed

Hey – what the heck?

This box is EMPTY

Someone left it on the table

What kind of person DOES that?

Are they just cruel, or unstable?

Well, one way to find out –

I’ll check the surveillance feed

Download the video

And email the whole team.
