Typewriter Rodeo: Oil Prices

Each week, the Texas Standard is reaching out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

As Texas Standard has reported many, many, many times over the past few months, oil prices have been all over the place lately.

That was Typewriter Rodeo’s Jodi Edgerton’s inspiration this week.

OIL PRICES

Prices at the pump rebound

High, then lower, twistin’

All across the Texas lands

You’ll spot the moving piston

Of the pumpjack, horsehead beam

Nodding Donkey too

Pulling oil from the ground

Coverting it from crude

So fill your tank up and go for a ride

And give a cheer, or three

To the hometown underground liquid gold

Barrels of Texas Tea
