Typewriter Rodeo: Rainbow Car Wash Soap

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Getting your car clean feels great: not just because it looks nice, or even because the car wash is cool on a summer day. Sometimes, the very act of entering a sudsy, rainbow-colored space is its own reward.

Rainbow Car Wash Soap

Oh some days

Some days nothing

  Can cheer me up

Work is just a mess

My hair is even messier

And I don’t want to even think

About the kitchen

But oh

Let that green light

  Guide me in

Let that drizzle of water

  Mist over my windshield

And let me sit back

And watch those

Wondrous

Thick colors

Melt and swirl in front of me

Mixing and blending

Better than the greatest show

In the sky

Because here

Here in my car wash world

Everything

Is clean

Safe

And Sudsy

Good.
