Summer is here, and that means escaping the Texas heat by cooling off inside a movie theatre. This summer, as many before it, promises big blockbusters with towering dinosaurs and caped superheroes. That’s the inspiration for Typewriter Rodeo’s David Fruchter this week.

Summer Blockbuster

it’s such sweet relief

to enter that dim,

air-conditioned temple

settle back in that deep cushioned seat

let the droplets of sweat

cool and evaporate from your skin

probably

you also have a beverage

it’s quite idyllic

serene even

and then

things explode at your face

for two solid hours

it’s better than meditating

and there’s snacks
