Typewriter Rodeo: Texas State Fair

Each week, Texas Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on a relevant headline or topic.

The Texas State Fair kicks off this weekend in Dallas, which inspired Typewriter Rodeo’s Sean Petrie for this week’s poem.

TEXAS STATE FAIR

Those parks in Orlando

They got nothing on us

‘Cuz when you’re in Texas

It’s the State Fair or bust!

Well hello there, Big Tex

With that smile on your face

Now come on, grab a seat

Let’s cheer on, the pig race!

Then on to the midway

Where I’ll win you a prize

After that, let’s eat!

Yes I would like that fried!

Now the day’s all done

And I’m feeling pretty great

With a smile on my face

As big as our state.
