Typewriter Rodeo: Texas Wines

Each week, the Standard reaches out to Austin’s Typewriter Rodeo for a custom poem on Texas topics.

Texas has queso, tacos, and barbecue – but you’ll need something to wash all of it down with. And while the craft beer craze is here to stay, Texas is also known for  some fantastic vineyards.

Texas Wines

Gather up your nearest and dearest

And head out into the hills

Where the goats roam freely

And the picnics are plenty

And settle in for an afternoon

amidst the vines

The first glass,

a crisp bright pinot grigio

Tastes of the first summer’s day down at the lake

The second glass,

an oaked chardonnay

Tastes of family barbecue and twilight frisbee games

The third glass,

an earthy cab

Tastes of laughing together well past any reasonable

bedtime

And the fourth glass?

That smoky zin?

That just tastes like Texas.

Rich, strong, joyous,

bold

true.

Cheers!
