We’ve been hearing from presidential hopefuls for nearly three years now. It’s 2016, and here we are counting down to the general election. Tensions are high and lines have been drawn. The one thing we can all agree on: things are getting ugly.

The Race Has Gotten Ugly

you know what would be great
a political race
where the candidates
did not act like children
except this insults our kids
who know better
than to inflame
who know better
than to cascade
insults
and lies
and just plain ridiculous words
our kids know better
but the grown-ups do not
does this mean we have hope
for the future
or do we weep for it
because the bozos right now
the bleating cows
of government
the online commenting sheep
might possibly keep
the country
from ever growing up
from ever seeing
what it could be
because they are so entrenched
in me me me
instead of us us us
instead of u dot s
our US
which is not the United States of Me
at least it shouldn’t be
just ask anyone over the age of 3
