Texas Senator Ted Cruz opposed federal aid to areas affected by Superstorm Sandy in 2012. Cruz said he voted “no” because two-thirds of the funds in the Sandy bill were unrelated to storm recovery. Is that a fact? Gardner Selby of the Politifact Texas fact-checking team has the answer.

As Cruz and the rest of the Texas congressional delegation advocate for massive expenditures for Hurricane Harvey relief, media outlets, including MSNBC have asked the senator to square his Sandy vote with his current support for Harvey funds.
