On Friday, the first group of migrants arrived in El Paso. They will then be able to rejoin family members in the U.S.

The sleeping area at Casa del Refugiado, where some asylum seekers who were enrolled in the "Remain in Mexico" program will stay for a night or two after entering El Paso, before joining family members in other parts of the U.S.

As part of President Joe Biden’s effort to unwind the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” program, some asylum seekers with pending cases are now being allowed into the U.S. to wait out their immigration court proceedings. A small group crossed from Ciudad Juarez into El Paso on Friday.
