The latest frontier in AI-based image-creation is a tribute – or an affront – to a celebrated filmmaker. Users of a new version of ChatGPT have taken to ordering up images in the style of animator Hayao Miyazaki. This, after a demo for the new version of ChatGPT included images designed to mimic the style of Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli.
Tech expert Omar Gallaga says it’s unlikely the semi-retired filmmaker is pleased by the newfound AI copycats.
