In Cypress, Texas, outside Houston, Farwa Hasan‘s graduation was supposed to be long delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was scheduled for July because of state lockdown rules. But since those were relaxed, Cypress Springs High School seniors will be able to celebrate on June 4 with a limited outdoor ceremony; Hasan can invite up to four family members.

“All my friends weren’t together to reveal what school we were picking. That was the one thing that we missed out on.”

“Our school always holds a senior picnic. They have this big obstacle course with carnival games set up in the parking lot outside. … It’s like a full day of water fights and waterslides and everything.”

“Quarantine has given me a lot of time to try different things, even just sit outside. I would never do that. I think I appreciate the outside a lot more.”
