In the days since the election, the app for the social media network Parler has risen to the top of the charts on the Apple and Google app stores. Some call Parler “Twitter for conservatives,” and many who’ve signed up say they’re tired of content restrictions on Twitter and Facebook that they feel stifle conservative views. Prominent voices on the right, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Fox personality Laura Ingraham have also found a home on Parler.

Omar Gallaga told Texas Standard the service has 8 million members, up from 4.5 million at the time of the election. He said fans of Parler don’t like the labeling or hiding of inaccurate posts from President Donald Trump and others on Facebook and Twitter.
