It’s time to talk about the week that was in Texas politics. Emily Ramshaw, editor-in-chief of the Texas Tribune, spoke with the Standard today to talk about what’s been going on across the state.

“Dan Patrick has basically come out swinging, …including insinuating that Joe Straus only won previous elections because Democrats were involved,” Ramshaw says. “This week, Joe Straus has fired back in some of his own interviews. He has basically called the Senate budget with Dan Patrick at the helm ‘full of tricks.'”

Dan Patrick suggested this week that he and Straus have “different audiences.”

“Joe Straus fired back this week by saying ‘Yeah, we do, Dan Patrick’s an entertainer,'” she says. “This is about as sexy as legislative shade throwing can get.”
