Democratic gubernatorial candidate Lupe Valdez said that after Texas cut its two-year family planning budget by $73 million, one in four family planning clinics closed. Is that a fact? Gardner Selby of the Politifact Texas fact-checking team has the answer.

In answering a question on a voter survey, Valdez wrote that “Republicans across the country have been destroying women’s health care in every way they can.” That’s where Valdez’ claim about clinics closing appeared.
