San Antonio is hosting the 2016 Texas Democratic Convention, and Alamo City is preparing for Democrats from across Texas to converge there later this week. The Castro brothers, twins Joaquín and Julián – San Antonio natives who serve as Congressman and secretary of Housing and Urban Development, respectively – will headline the event.

Ben Philpott, longtime political journalist and senior editor for KUT News, has attended these political conventions in the past and he says one thing he’ll be looking for this year is how the party tackles the presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and his rhetoric on the campaign trail about Hispanic people.

“This is a party that has wanted to turn the state blue,” Philpott says. “They think that the Hispanic base is the way to do… You’re going to have Rep. (Filemon) Vela there and he’s going to speak. I think he’s going to be one of the stars of the show.”

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– What to look for from the Castro brothers, two rising stars of the state party

– Whether Wendy Davis will be involved in the convention

– How the country’s final primary in D.C. this week may change the convention’s conversation
