Varda Salkey, who stands at a towering 6’4″, played professional basketball in Russia after playing collegiate basketball for Georgetown University.

Later, she and her husband Vladimir moved to Austin and opened a Russian restaurant.

The restaurant, called Russian House, is filled with Russian and Soviet décor and offers over 105 house-infused vodkas. Flavors include traditional fruity tastes, as well as more exotic flavors like banana, paprika, sauerkraut, cigar, bacon and Texas barbecue.
