Tropical storms. Tornado watches. Flooding. Road closures. Texans have definitely gotten their fair share of severe weather events in 2015. But at what cost?

Texas is one of six states that account for more than 75 percent of all hurricane damage in the U.S. and June marks the start of the hurricane season. The coming months of August and September are often the most hurricane-filled months for the Texas coast. With Tropical Storm Bill making his way through Texas, there’s more stormy weather ahead.

Tom Jeffrey, senior hazard analyst with the consulting firm CoreLogic, talks to the Texas Standard how all these storms affect the state’s economy.
