The chances of cyber and phishing attacks are greater than ever now that many people are working from home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Personal information and company data can be at risk if devices aren’t properly protected. Even Zoom calls and chat rooms can get hacked or “bombed.” But many are unaware of how easily these hacks can happen in a home office.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga says that remote working actually makes workers’ technology more vulnerable to hacking than when they’re at the office. But he says simple precautions such as updating passwords, using a variety of passwords for different sites and securing Wi-Fi networks are all things that can protect worker and company data from hackers.

“Things that we talk about all the time are suddenly more important if you’re going to be working from home,” Gallaga says. “It’s much more important that you do those things instead of putting them off.”

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– How to prevent getting hacked while working from home

– Why there’s an increased risk for cyberattacks during the pandemic
