Attention “Game of Thrones” fans. And don’t worry, there are no spoilers here.
The man behind the show that is watched by millions around the world has chosen to house his magical artifacts in Texas. Texas A&M University’s Cushing Memorial Library was handpicked by “Game of Thrones” author George R. R. Martin to permanently house the writer’s original manuscripts and many of the show’s keepsakes.
When imagining a real-life Citadel – the monolithic library and headquarters of mystical scholars on the hit HBO series – many viewers probably wouldn’t think of College Station. But Jeremy Brett, curator of the Cushing Library’s science fiction and fantasy collection, says Martin established a good relationship with Texas A&M through the writer’s past participation in AggieCon.
Most of the “Game of Thrones” memorabilia, including replica Valyrian swords, are available to the public. But left out for the time being is fan favorite “Dance with Dragons.” Martin has asked that the manuscript be made public only after “Winds of Winter” is released.
