Are Texas teachers required to go back to school in the fall while Texas Education Agency staffers are working from home through January?

Madlin Mekelburg of PolitiFact Texas looked into the claim made by the president of school employee union Education Austin, Ken Zarifis, at a recent press conference.

Zarifis called out TEA Commissioner Mike Morath, saying, “What is selfish is a commissioner that requires teachers and workers to returned to unsafe environments. … All the while he has closed his offices at TEA through January.”
