As mobile devices become a bigger part of kids’ lives, the challenge of keeping them safe continues to grow. Bullies, trolls and scammers are out there too, looking for kids – and, by extension, parents – who don’t know where the risks are online.

Digital savant Omar Gallaga of the Austin American-Statesman’s 512 Tech says even services and sites designed for kids are vulnerable, and parents need to keep their guard up when letting their young ones go online.

What you’ll hear in this segment:

– What kind of inappropriate content is on YouTube Kids, and how the company is addressing it

– How parents can keep kids safer online

– What tools and hardware are available to protect kids

Some tools mentioned in this segment include: Net Nanny, Qustudio, Studio C on YouTube, Connect Safely, SafeKids.com.
