Meta strikes AI chip deal with AMD

The company, with products in social media and wearables, is seeking a secure supply of chips.

Meta will spend billions of dollars on AI chips from Advanced Micro Devices and take a significant stake in the company. Meta owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The company is moving aggressively to incorporate AI into its social media platforms and other products.

Tech expert Omar Gallaga says OpenAI inked a similar deal with AMD last year.
