“We started wearing masks even before people were saying that you should just because my wife is … a doctor. She just felt like it was a very important thing to do.”

“She started making masks, and she made me a goofy, checkered black and white one.”

Zeorlin says he has masks everywhere, including a box by the front door and some hanging off the rearview mirror of his car.

“I’m a runner, so I carry one with me if I’m in a situation that could end up being more crowded with runners.”

“I make a lot of different things over the years [that are] kind of sculptural. … I probably will end up playing with these masks in different ways, thinking about how maybe the masks made some political divisions amongst people. Or maybe the masks can be used as a symbol of learning how to filter some of the thoughts that I shouldn’t have expressed in the early part of all this conflict.”
