In this week’s Standard installment of Politifact Texas, Selby takes a look at Ted Cruz’s dad.

Rafael Cruz is seen as Ted’s political “super-surrogate,” according to Selby. He appears at Tea Party meetings as well as various Republican clubs to speak on his son’s behalf. But in a recent interview with the Austin American-Statesman, Cruz asserted that “Prior to 1962, everybody prayed before school started. In 1962, the Supreme Court banned prayer…. In 1963, they banned the Bible from school. Prior to that, the Bible was the principal textbook in all schools.”

Are Cruz’s pants on fire, or is his statement true?
