As we round out our twelfth week of working from home, most working musicians have found themselves in the same position we are. After all, live music venues closed in mid-March.
Initially, a lot of artists imagined doing one-off concerts here and there until venues reopened, in what many first thought would be a matter of weeks. But as our “new normal” set in, musicians are now consistently doing weekly concerts, streaming for fans across the world with hopes that donations might offset funds lost during this pandemic.

“Friday Friends” with Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller

What: Each week, Miller has a guest curate a special playlist for this live stream. Past curators include musician Rob Thomas, and comedian Tig Notaro, and tonight’s curator is Oscar nominated producer and director, Kevin McAlester.
Old 97’s will release a new song later this month, with a full album to follow in August. Fingers crossed, we might get a sneak peak of some new music sometime soon on the series.
Dallas Dance Party with Christy Ray

What: This week, she’ll be taking over for award winning DJ Disco, TX, who hosts a DJ set every Friday night at 8pm. Christy Ray has been named one of the best DJ’s in Dallas by the Dallas Observer.
The Kat Edmonson Show
When: Sunday, June 7, at 6pm
Where: kat.live
What: Houston native Kat Edmonson bridges the gap between jazz and pop. She was on a 40-city tour in support of her new album Dreamer’s Do when the pandemic struck. Since then, she’s been livestreaming a weekly series from her living room every Sunday night, featuring classic songs, requests from fans and some personal favorites from her own discography.
