Researchers at the University of Texas have identified interesting depressions on the surface of The Red Planet that could unlock the planet’s secrets. The surface features are shaped in a concentric pattern and are considered a prime location for future scientists searching for life outside of our planet.
Lead author of the study Joe Levy explains what kind of life could be present in the geologic conditions.
“Probably microbial, when you look in these volcanic depressions on earth they’re teaming microbial ecosystems,” he says. “This is a great place to live as a microbe until the lake drains and you get flushed out into the ocean.”
