It’s time to talk about the week that was in Texas politics. Emily Ramshaw, editor-in-chief of the Texas Tribune, spoke with the Standard today to talk about what’s been going on across the state.

Rumors are circulating that former Gov.Rick Perry might be on Trump’s shortlist for, of all things, Energy Secretary.

“This is the best line of news ever because you’ll recall this was the one agency that Rick Perry wanted to get rid of that he couldn’t remember in his ‘oops’ debate,” she says. “So if he did take this job, he would be taking a job heading up basically the department that he thinks is not worth its salt.”

Ramshaw says that she doubts Perry would take the position if it were offered.

“I think Donald Trump is trying to find a spot that he thinks would be good for Rick Perry but Perry has repeatedly said he would like something around veterans – I would be surprised if this one comes to pass,” she says.
