Prices for Samsung phones and tablets are on the rise. It’s just the latest example of the impact of massive increases in the cost of memory chips.
Those higher costs have also impacted buyers of computers and disk drives from other sellers.
Tech expert Omar Gallaga reported on higher Samsung prices for CNET. He says tariffs and supply shortages are to blame.
Highlights from this segment:
– Several high-end Samsung phones have seen significant price increases, while others have not. The company’s tablets are affected, too.
– Components sold by Samsung to makers of computers and other gadgets have already driven prices higher, and made some products hard to come by.
– Apple, which uses its own chips that are manufactured by other companies, has removed a few high-end computer configurations from its price list. It’s possible that RAM shortages, and a desire to refresh those products, played into the changes.
