Wintry weather has reached much of Texas, despite it feeling like spring earlier this week in parts of the state. This cold front is expected to bring a good bit of snow to the Panhandle and West Texas. Places like Lubbock and Midland-Odessa are currently under winter storm warnings.

Jenn Daniel is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Lubbock. She says some in her office’s forecast area have experienced 8-10 inches of snow. Even four-wheel drive vehicles struggle in the weather, she says.

“Even just the little bit of snow that we’ve received here in Lubbock, because of the temperatures being so cold, it has turned to ice, and so our roads are just ice skating rinks this morning,” Daniel says.

This week’s wintry weather is probably the worst since a blizzard hit the area in 2016, Daniel says.
