The Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs met four times during the regular season, with San Antonio winning three of those basketball matchups. Now, the regular season is officially over and they’re slated to meet at least four more times.
With a victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Thursday night, the Spurs advanced to the NBA western conference semifinals, where they’ll face the Rockets.
Jabari Young, an NBA reporter for the San Antonio Express-News, says the matchup referred to as the I-10 series will be keeping fans of both teams on the edge of their seats.
Though the two teams both reside in the Lone Star State, Young says the they couldn’t be much more different in their approaches to the game. Young says this mixed-matched pairing is what will make the game so interesting to watch.
“It’s gonna come down to that fourth quarter the way it’s come down to the fourth quarter for three of the four games,” Young says.
In particular, the differences between the two teams’ stars, Kawhi Leonard and James Harden is something Young says to watch out for.
“One plays both ends of the floor…the other one is one of the more prolific scorers that you’re ever going to see,” Young says. “Whoever comes out of the matchup, you’re going to see their team win.”
