Sure, Google Fiber is Fast – But is it Accessible?

Critics say no, but Google has a plan.

Last year, Google opened signups for its fiber optic connection in South Austin. Now East Austin will be getting the gigabit internet, which Google claims runs 100 times faster than your average broadband connection. But laying down high-speed fiber is expensive, which is keeping Google fiber from expanding to more neighborhoods. Plus, not everyone can afford to pay $70 a month for super fast service. That might be why some critics say Google Fiber isn’t very inclusive.
